
Columbus Signs 2009 First Round Draft Pick John Moore

Syraucse, NY (July 21, 2009) - The Syracuse Crunch announced today that the Columbus Blue Jackets have signed defenseman John Moore to a standard three-year entry level contract. As per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Moore, 18, skated in 57 games with the Chicago Steel (USHL) last season, collecting 14 goals, 25 assists and 50 penalty minutes. For his effort, he was named the USHL Defenseman of the Year and ranked fourth in scoring among league blueliners.
A native of Winnetka, Illinois, Moore won a gold medal with Team USA at the 2008 World Junior "A" Challenge where he notched two assists in five games. For his USHL career, he skated in 113 games, all with Chicago, tallying 18 goals, 36 assists and 76 penalty minutes. Moore was drafted by Columbus in the first round, 21st overall, in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
