Columbus Re-Signs Left Wing Alexandre Picard

Syracuse, NY (September 9, 2009) - The Syracuse Crunch announced today that the Columbus Blue Jackets have re-signed left wing Alexandre Picard. As per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Picard, 23, appeared in 49 games with the Crunch last season, tallying 22 goals, 10 assists and 107 penalty minutes. He set a Crunch franchise record for the most goals by a player in a two-game span when he collected seven combined tallies on March 20 and 21, en route to scoring 20 goals over his final 22 games. Picard also skated in 15 games with Columbus last season, picking up one assist and 26 penalty minutes.

Over the past four seasons, Picard has appeared in 192 AHL games, all with Syracuse, collecting 55 goals, 56 assists and 348 penalty minutes and ranks sixth all-time in team history in power play goals (28). In 58 career NHL games, all with Columbus, Picard has notched two assists and 48 penalty minutes.

A native of Les Saules, Quebec, Picard was selected by Columbus in the first round, eighth overall, in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.

The Crunch open their 16th AHL season on Saturday, October 3 in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. Syracuse opens up at home the following weekend when they face Adirondack on Saturday, October 10.
