Columbus Destroyers Sign Quarterback Justin Zwick

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The defending National Conference champion Columbus Destroyers, presented by Germain, have signed quarterback Justin Zwick and defensive lineman Mondre Dickerson, Head Coach Doug Kay announced today.

Zwick (6-4, 225, The Ohio State University) will play quarterback in his first season in the Arena Football League. At Ohio State, he was a member of the 2002 National Championship squad. In 29 games played he completed 159-of-276 passes for 1,779 yards and seven touchdowns.

Zwick prepped at Orrville (OH) (1998-2000) and Massillon Washington (OH) High School (2000-02). He led Orrville to a Division IV State championship as a freshman. Finishing his prep career with 10,500 passing yards, he ranks third in the state's history.

Dickerson (6-5, 315, Tennessee) will be playing in his third season in the AFL. He spent the 2006 season with the Tampa Bay Storm and last season with the Grand Rapids Rampage. In 22 games played, he has accumulated 16.0 tackles (12UT-8AT) and one tackle for loss.

At Tennessee (2002-03) he made 50 tackles, eight tackles for loss, five sacks and one forced fumble. A transfer from Coffeyville (Kan.) Community College (2000-01), he totaled 194 tackles and 20 sacks on his way to being named Second-Team All-NJCAA All American in 2001.

The Destroyers home schedule kicks off in the "Battle of the Buckeye State" against the Cleveland Gladiators on Saturday, Mar. 15 at 7 p.m., where the team will unveil the 2007 National Conference Championship banner on Huntington Field at Nationwide Arena.
