
Columbus Crew SC's Luis Diaz Receives International Call-Up

COLUMBUS - Columbus Crew SC today announced that midfielder Luis Diaz has received an international call-up from the Costa Rica National Team. Costa Rica is set to play a friendly against the United States Men's National Team on Saturday, February 1 at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California.
Luis Diaz has earned two caps with the Costa Rica National Team since making his debut as a substitute in a friendly against Uruguay in 2019 (September 6). Diaz earned his second cap in a Concacaf Nations League group stage match last year against Curacao (October 13). In 2019, Diaz scored two goals and provided four assists in just 13 regular-season appearances for Crew SC after joining the Club on July 2 of that year.
Crew SC's current roster features seven players that have received a senior National Team call-up while with the Club: Harrison Afful, Luis Diaz, Waylon Francis, Jonathan Mensah, Eloy Room, Wil Trapp and Gyasi Zardes.
The Crew's 2020 MLS preseason is currently underway in Chula Vista, California. The Black & Gold depart to Cancun, Mexico on January 29 before traveling to Tucson, Arizona on February 10 to participate in the 2020 Visit Tucson Sun Cup, which is set to take place from February 15-22.
The Black & Gold begin the 2020 MLS regular season at MAPFRE Stadium against New York City FC, on Sunday, March 1 at 12:30 p.m. ET.
