
Colts Lose Heartbreaker in Extras

San Angelo, Texas --- The Colts failed to hold on to a 3-0 lead, and lost to the Fort Worth Cats, 4-3, in 10 innings Tuesday night at Foster Field.
Cats' right fielder Chuck Caufield hit a one-out triple in the 10th and then scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch. Colts' reliever Russell Johns (1-2) surrendered the run, and took the loss.
Fort Worth reliever T.J. Bozeman (1-0) pitched a scoreless the bottom of the ninth to earn the win. Closer Jeff Jamnik got the save, his 11th of the year.
First baseman Daryl Jones gave San Angelo a 2-0 lead in the third with a two-run homer that scored right fielder J.J. Sherrill. Jones drove in all the runs for the Colts, as he had a sacrifice fly in the fifth that brought home second baseman Ryan Hutson.
The Cats began their comeback in the sixth. Second baseman C.J. Beatty hit a two-run homer that drove in centerfielder Randall Thorpe. Then in the seventh, third baseman Scott Dalrymple had an RBI ground out that scored the tying run in designated hitter Brandon Jones.
Both clubs were scoreless through the eighth and ninth, before Fort Worth scored the game-winning run in the 10th.
The win improves Fort Worth to 29-21, while the loss drops improves San Angelo to 24-27. This four-game series continues Thursday with $1 Beer Night, sponsored by Miller Lite. The Tyler Lenius Band will play in the beer garden following the game. Gates open at 6:05 p.m., and first pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
