San Angelo Colts News Release
San Angelo, Texas --- The San Angelo Colts announced Tuesday they have acquired pitcher Ryan Turner from the Washington Wild Things of the independent Frontier League to complete a previous trade.
On February 2 the Colts and Wild Things agreed to a trade that sent pitchers Corey Goudeau and Andy Wells, and shortstop Clint Stroud to Washington in exchange for infielders Scott Lawson and Trevor Bloom, as well as future considerations. Turner is the final piece of the deal.
Turner signed with the Wild Things during the offseason on December 16, and therefore never played for them. Drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays in 2011, Turner played for the Rookie Ball Gulf Coast League Rays last season. He went 1-1 with a 6.35 earned-run average in 13 relief appearances.
The righthander also had 17 strikeouts in as many innings pitched.
Turner, 23, is entering his second professional season.
The San Angelo Colts are a member of the North American Baseball League who will play their 13th season in 2012. Season ticket plans are on sale now, and available at the Colts front office at Foster Field.
