
Colorado Rockies Acquire Chris Malone From Chico Outlaws

(Dublin, CA) The Golden Baseball League (GBL) announced today that the Colorado Rockies have acquired the contract of RHP Chris Malone of the Chico Outlaws. The big righty appeared in just one game for Chico, starting last night with turning in an impressive performance.
Malone, 24, 6-4, 215 lbs is a right-handed power pitcher who spent the last three seasons in the Los Angeles Dodger farm system. Used as a starter and reliever, he posted a 12-16 record playing in Rookie, A, and High-A leagues for the Dodgers as he posted a 4.80 E.R.A. in 66 minor league games and average a strikeout per inning. The California-native was picked up in the off-season by the Chico Outlaws and quikly won the job of their number two starter. In his only appearance last night, he went six innings giving up only a single run. He will report to Tucson, Arizona on Monday and join the Rockies minor league prospects in extended spring training prior to being assigned to a team.
Malone is the seventh GBL player in 2008 to be acquired by a major league organization following the 17 players sold in 2007. He is the eighth Chico Outlaws to be acquired by a major league oragnization in the last three seasons.
