Colorado Lightning has Great Turnout for Season Tryouts

(Loveland, CO) -Colorado Lightning Soccer held season tryouts on Saturday, September 6 and Sunday, September 7 at the Fort Collins Indoor Soccer Club. There was a large turnout for the tryouts with almost one hundred players showing up on both Saturday night and early Sunday morning.

A diverse range of players came to tryouts this past weekend. There were players who traveled from out of state and players from all over Colorado. Luke Babson, from Portland, Oregon, came to Colorado for tryouts and said, "It is nice to be back in Colorado and see so many old faces again." Babson played college soccer for Colorado State University, Pueblo Campus. He also played for the Southern Colorado Stars Indoor Soccer for the 2007 Winter Season. "I have been playing soccer since I was about four years old. I love it," said Babson about his love and passion for the game.

The amount of talented players that attended the tryouts was not a surprise to Lightning General Manager, Don Tumminia. "Colorado is a hot-bed for soccer talent, and fans will see that come November," Tumminia said. The Lightning Staff is incredibly enthusiastic to begin the first Colorado Lightning Season. The team's 2008-2009 home opener is at the Budweiser Event Center on Sunday, November 2.

The top-tier of the Professional Arena Soccer League (PASL) has four divisions: Western US, Canada, Eastern US, and Mexico. The Western Division includes the following teams: Stockton Cougars, CA., Wenatchee Fire, WA., Denver Dynamite, and Colorado Lightning. The Lightning play 16 regular season games in total, eight at home at the Budweiser Events Center. Team in the PASL he PASL will play six vs. six, including goalkeepers, on an indoor field 85 feet wide by 200 feet long during four 15 minute quarters (sudden death, if needed).
