Colorado Ice to Take on Wyoming Cavalry
April 23, 2012 - Indoor Football League (IFL)
Colorado Crush News Release
Fort Collins, CO-The Colorado Ice Professional Indoor Football team will take on the Wyoming Cavalry this Saturday, April 28th, 2012. The Ice will be returning home to the Majestic Roofing Field at the Budweiser Events Center after two weeks on the road and a bye week.
The Ice are currently undefeated at home and this game marks the third in a 4 game series against the Cavalry, in which they are also undefeated. The Ice have been able to grasp 2 wins over the Cavalry with their opportunistic defense and their equally adept offensive line.
In their previous game against the New Mexico Stars the Ice fell short. QB David Knighton (#5) blasted a 9 yard touchdown pass to Jessie Poku (#85) to tie the game with less than a minute left in the fourth quarter. The Ice were unable to hold on and eventually fell to the Stars 44-41. Although this was a disappointing loss for the Ice, they still remain in third place in the Intense Conference.
In their first matchup against the Cavalry, the Ice's offense was on fire. The Ice jumped out to an early lead and the Cavalry was quickly shut down by the stout Ice defense. The Ice's strong performance resulted in a new team record for most points scored in one home game.
The second victory over the Cavalry was not so easily handed to the Ice. They were leading at halftime however the Ice offense wasn't able to carry over their momentum to the second half. Defense was the theme in the second half and they never let the Cavalry back in the game. The Ice clinched the win 42-35.
The Wyoming Cavalry are currently 3-5 and sit fifth place in the Intense Conference. The Cavalry recently won against the New Mexico Stars 50-46. The Cavalry were leading at halftime and failed to score on the next 4 offensive possessions, allowing the Stars to grab the lead. The Cavalry's offense seemed to have left the game early and relied on their defense to clutch the win.
Madwire Media and the Ice are bringing fans a "Superhero Night". All fans are encouraged to show up wearing their crime fighting costumes and will have a chance to enter the best dressed contest. Four lucky superheroes will be brought down during halftime for fan judging and a chance to win cool prizes.
