The Colorado Ice Silence the Everett Raptors
Fort Collins, CO-The Colorado Ice clinched another win 49-36 over the Raptors, to hold onto their undefeated home portion of the 2012 season.
The scoreboard remained relatively quiet in the first quarter as the Ice attempted to shake off the bye week rust. QB David Knighton (#5) started the scoring early in the game with a touchdown pass to RB Tobias Robinson (#22) and rookie kicker, Aric Goodman (#9), was successful with a 14 yard PAT. The Ice were able to hold the Raptors 7-3 as they headed into the second quarter.
The Raptors started the second quarter with a safety to close the gap on the Ice's lead. The Ice quickly came back with a 33 yard field goal from Goodman (#9) and a bomb from Knighton (#5) to WR Jessie Poku (#85). Goodman (#9) added to the Ice's score with a 43 yard field goal. A strike from Knighton (#5) to Robinson (#22) ended the Ice's scoring, leading 27-14 at halftime.
The Ice's stout defense held the Raptors to only one touchdown in the third quarter. The Ice remained scoreless, however they held onto their lead into the fourth quarter.
Robinson (#22) returned the ball, adding to his impressive 3 touchdown performance of the night. Knighton (#5) threw to WR Duane Brooks (#2) and Poku (#85) to ensure the Ice's victory over the Raptors.
LB Prince Hall (#40) was named Runza Player of the Week for his 9 tackle performance.
The Ice take on The Wyoming Cavalry on the road next week, April 6th, 2012.
