Fort Collins, CO - The Colorado Ice would like to welcome Justin Wells and Wacey Coleman to the organization.
Wells is a 6'4", 325 lb. offensive lineman from St. Augustine's University, who was rated as the 103rd best offensive guard prospect in the 2011 draft class. Wells finished his collegiate career in strong fashion, helping lead St. Augustine's to two school records during the 2010 season (points per game and offensive yards per game). Following his senior campaign, Wells received recognition from various groups, being named All-CIAA First Team and Don Hansen All-Super Region I Third Team.
Wells was also selected to two all-star games following his senior season; being named a HBCU Classic All-Star and Dixie Gridiron Classic All-Star. Wells' performance throughout his collegiate career and in his all-star appearances earned him the recognition as one of the top HBCU prospects in the 2011 NFL Draft Class. His performance and recognition turned into a contract with the Carolina Panthers after a strong performance in their rookie mini-camp.
Coleman is a 6'2", 245 lb. defensive end from Black Hills State University. Coleman played four seasons at BHSU, accumulating 166 tackles, 44.5 tackles for loss, 21.5 sacks, and 5 fumble recoveries. Coleman's staggering numbers earned him massive amounts of recognition including being named First Team All-American (2007 & 2009), Honorable Mention All-American (2008), 1st Team All-Conference (2007, 2008, & 2009), and Conference MVP (2009).
Coleman's recognition didn't stop there as he was selected as a member of the 2011 USA National Football Team that won the gold medal at the American Football World Championship played in Austria. Coleman is no stranger to the IFL as he spent the 2011 season with the Wyoming Cavalry. With the Cavalry, Coleman played in 10 games; accumulating 47 tackles, 2 sacks, 1 interception, 2 forced fumbles, and 1 pass break-up.
