Colorado Crush News Release

Fort Collins, CO - The Colorado Ice scored a critical home victory over the Nebraska Danger tonight by a score of 32-12.

The Ice avenged their lone loss of the season, a 73-50 loss in Nebraska back in week two, with a dominant defensive effort. After allowing points on every single Danger possession in their previous meeting, Colorado's defense came in to the game focused.

The Danger's offense, led by quarterback Jameel Sewell (10), leads the IFL in touchdown passes. On this night however, Nebraska found the end zone just once, on a touchdown run from Sewell in the 2nd quarter. The Ice managed to keep the Danger off the scoreboard completely in every quarter except the 2nd, which saw Nebraska score all 12 of its points.

The Ice defense was led by Runza Player of the Game Greg "The Hammer" Jackson (11). Jackson had a team-high 10 tackles and made what might have been the biggest play of the entire game in the 3rd quarter. Jackson put a hit on Danger QB Sewell that knocked the ball loose, recovered the fumble that he caused, and then ran it back 31 yards for a touchdown that put the Ice in the lead 19-12, a lead they would not relinquish.

Ice linebacker Greg Jackson stated, "We came in with a big chip on our shoulder. We gave up 73 points... I mean, that's not something we're accustomed to, so we wanted to come out and put our foot down and let them know that were not going to have that tonight."

Asked about preparing for the league's leading passer, Jackson said "It's something we definitely looked at, but we want to make sure it's a team effort. Stopping one player is just going to open up another player, so you gotta make sure you stop everybody."

The defense also saw stellar performances by defensive back Jovan Jackson (24) who had an interception in the 3rd quarter and defensive linemen Michael Stover (97) who came away with 2 sacks and a blocked field goal attempt.

With the Ice defense keeping the Danger off the board the Ice offense stepped up under Quarterback Willie Copeland (13) who connected with newly acquired wide receiver Matthew Roark (4) for his first touchdown in the IFL, while wide receiver Kyle Kaiser (3) had a diving catch in the end zone. Ice running back Cordera Eason (28) had a break out run for 32 yards and 1 rushing touchdown.

With the win, the Ice move to 5-1 and take over sole possession of 1st place in the Intense Conference. The Colorado Ice four game winning streak is the 2nd longest active streak in the IFL behind the Chicago Slaughter, who have won 5 straight.

The Ice will see action next Saturday night against the Sioux Falls Storm in Sioux Falls. The next Ice home game is May 18th and is the Agfinity, Inc. AG day. Bring out the kids and have a great time.

The Colorado Ice are proud members of the Indoor Football League (IFL). All home games are played on Majestic Roofing Field at the Budweiser Events Center located in Loveland, Colorado. 2013 Season Ticket information is available by contacting the Colorado Ice offices at (970) 472-0128.
