July 20, 2006 - United Indoor Football Association (UIF) News Release

Omaha, NE - The United Indoor Football (UIF) Association is proud to announce their first expansion team for the 2007 season. The Colorado Ice will join the current 10 UIF teams and will be on the schedule next season. The Ice will play in Ft. Collins/Loveland, CO (about an hour North of Denver) at the Budweiser Events Center at the Ranch in Loveland.

"This is a great addition to the UIF. Danny DeGrande and his staff are both enthusiastic and committed to creating one of the best indoor football teams in the country, both on and off the field. The Budweiser Event Center is a state of the art facility and great venue for indoor football. The people of the Ft. Collins/Loveland area have been wonderful in their support and encouragement of the team," stated UIF Executive Director, Dakota Crow. "The buzz in the community about the Ice is already drawing a lot of attention and the team is in for a great season in 2007."

The ownership group for the Ice has worked hard for several months to acquire a team in the UIF. They went through a thorough an extensive review process, both locally and at a league level. The Ice become the second expansion team in UIF history and the first for the 2007 season.

"We're extremely excited for the Ft. Collins (Loveland) community and their ownership group for getting involved in the UIF," said President of the Sioux Falls Storm and UIF Executive Committee member, Colin Steen. "Expansion is very important in the UIF and to find an ownership group that is this excited about joining is great for the whole league."

Danny DeGrande is the team's owner and will oversee much of the day-to-day operations. DeGrande is a real estate investor in the Colorado area. Former Omaha Beef coach, Collins Sanders, has come out of retirement to head up the first season for the Ice as their new Head Coach.
