Fort Collins, CO- John Cunningham, owner of Northern Colorado's Indoor Football team, the Colorado Ice, will be speaking on the importance of community outreach at the Loveland Golden K Kiwanis Meeting on Wednesday, November 5th at 9:30 a.m.
Kiwanis International is a global organization comprised of over 8,000 clubs in 96 countries with over 260,000 adult members. Founded in 1915, Kiwanis members focus on serving children and youth through Service Leadership Programs that emphasize quality of life and supportive, productive communities. Kiwanis members dedicate over 6 million service hours per year, participating in such projects as feeding the homeless, building community playgrounds, organizing youth sporting events, caring for the sick, and mentoring disadvantaged youth.
Community outreach is a concept the Colorado Ice has fully embraced since Cunningham's acquisition of the team in April of 2008. Colorado Ice players and staff were actively involved in the re-building of the Windsor community after the devastating tornado of last spring, raising over 1,500 dollars in donations and dedicating themselves to the clean-up of Chimney Park ball fields.
"It is very important to us that Colorado Ice players, cheerleaders, and staff be actively involved in the Northern Colorado Community. We are not just here to sell tickets and play football, we are here to be exemplary members of our community. People from all levels of our organization are actively involved in community appearances, fundraising, and volunteer efforts. We pride ourselves on reaching out to the community, and hope the community will embrace us in return. Exemplary organizations like the Kiwanis club are great role models we can learn from," stated Cunningham.
The Colorado Ice are proud members of the Indoor Football League (IFL). All home games are played at the Budweiser Events Center located in Loveland, Colorado. The 2009 season kicks off in March with specific game-day dates to be announced. Single, group, and season tickets for the 2009 season are now available at the Colorado Ice headquarters by calling (970) 472-0128.
