Colorado Ice Breaks The Fever 57-41
(Loveland, CO) - The Colorado ICE gets their first win of the season against the Tri-Cities Fever. The ICE started out with a 40 yard touchdown pass from David Knighton (5) to Jason English (8) at 9:06 in the first quarter followed up by a PAT by newly signed kicker Rocky Stevens (23).
The ICE broke through by spreading the wealth to the receivers. David Knighton (5) went 17 for 22 throws hitting Jason English (8) six times for two touchdowns and Lemans Casimier (3) five times for two touchdowns. Cory Sleeth (4) had a 1 yard rushing touchdown and a spectacular grab in the third quarter pulling the ball in while falling into the stands for his second touchdown of the night. Bobby Purify (13) showed his power with 70 yards of rushing and two touchdown runs in the fourth quarter.
The ICE Defense was strong throughout the game. The additions of Nick Oppenneer (15) and Dominic Applehans (33) were felt by the Tri-Cities Fever. Oppenneer had four tackles and four assists, while Appelhans made an impact on special teams and also had a sack. Landon Jones (40) once again led the ICE defense with six tackles, nine assists and one sack.
The Colorado ICE will be facing the Sioux City Bandits on Saturday, May 29th at 7pm in the Budweiser Events Center.
