Colorado Ice 2012 Season in Review

Fort Collins, CO- The Colorado Ice have finished another season and year of proud achievements. The Ice finished the regular season with an 8-6 record, and for the second consecutive season made it to the postseason. The Ice kicked off the season by setting a team record for most points scored at a home game and defeating the Wyoming Calvary 72-36.

The Ice set an Indoor Football League (IFL) record when they faced Wyoming Calvary again in their fourth and final meeting as quarterback Jeremy Sanders (#8) and running back Tobias Robinson (#22) combined for an unprecedented 260 yards rushing in a single game. Sanders (#8) and Robinson (#22) were also picked as Co-Offensive Players of the Week by the IFL for their record against the Wyoming Calvary.

Antoine Carter (#44) received the IFL Defensive Player of the Week for his dominating performance against the Wyoming Calvary in week 10 in which he was credited for 9 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and 2 sacks. Carter (#44) finished the season with 42 tackles and 4.5 sacks in just 8 games played.

The Ice had two rookies make All IFL teams. Aric Goodman was selected First Team All IFL: Special Teams and offensive lineman Mike Trice was selected Second Team All IFL: Offense.

In 2012 the Ice were able to help Mario Henderson, Offensive Tackle, launch his return to the NFL; Henderson played three games for the Ice before getting a tryout and eventually signing with the San Diego Chargers for the 2012 Season.

Henderson commented "After being out of football for a year and not being looked at by the NFL; having the opportunity to get back into a routine of practice, watching film and playing against good completion enabled me to focus on getting back to the NFL." Ice Head Coach Heron O'Neal stated, "Mario's signing with the Chargers is one of many I expect to see moving up to the NFL or CFL from the Ice and the Indoor Football League."

The Ice coaching staff is hard at work recruiting for the 2013 Season and developing opportunities for players to advance to the NFL and CFL.

The Colorado Ice are proud of the team, coaches and all their accomplishments on the field, however; the off the field accomplishments of the Ice organization and business partners were stepped up as well. During the 2012 season the Colorado Ice worked closely with our new partner Sam's Club as we raised funds for the Multiple Sclerosis Society, as well as, the Children's Miracle Network.

With the re-launch of TheColoradoIce.com website, Madwire Media has helped the Ice bring our fans a fresh updated format, easy to navigate and to get information on scores, news, how to get tickets and be able to join us on our Social Media platforms.

The Colorado Ice where honored to be able to send Head Coach Heron O'Neal and many players to various schools throughout Northern Colorado to share the value of education, hard work and dedication to the students and how they can achieve their goals by continuing their education.

In the off season, the Ice remain involved in the Northern Colorado community through their volunteering and donations to various charities and fundraisers. The 5th Annual Tough Enough to Wear Pink Golf Tournament that benefits breast cancer detection, treatment and support in our county was one that Aric Goodman (#9), kicker, participated in. Shawn Patrick, on field announcer for the Ice, also included the team in his 1st Annual Lures 4 Laney, with all proceeds benefitting The Children's Hospital and Cancer research.

The Colorado Ice Staff stepped up to help the victims of the devastating High Park Fire. Working with K99, a local radio station to help with the Make It Rain Concert an estimated $50,000.00 and counting has been raised. The Colorado Ice, continue to look for and remain involved in positive ways to enrich the community.
