Colorado Eagles Looking to Rewrite CHL Record Book
February 1, 2005 - Central Hockey League (CHL) News Release
The Colorado Eagles are following up their highly successful 03-04 inaugural campaign with an even better year, and are in prime position to establish several new CHL records as the season continues. Most prominently, a win Friday at the Ford Center in Oklahoma City would give them 13 consecutive victories, and sole possession of the CHL record they currently share with Memphis (01-02), Bossier-Shreveport (98-99) and Huntsville (96-97), all with 12-game winning streaks.
Should Colorado register 35 points in their remaining 21 games, they would finish with a CHL-record .816 winning percentage, topping Laredo's .813 mark established last season. Nine victories in their remaining 11 contests away from home would give them a share of the CHL record for road wins in a season (24), and one more shutout victory this season would equal Odessa's record of 10 established in the 2000/2001 season.
Colorado is also well ahead of the pace to set new CHL records for penalty killing and team goals against average. The Eagles have held opponents to just 17 goals in 211 opportunities, good for a 91.9 % success rate which would top Laredo's record of 89.4 % from last season, and Colorado's current 1.90 team goals against average would remove the 2002/2003 Austin Ice Bats mark of 2.17.
Road wins at Oklahoma City this Friday, Wichita on Saturday and at Tulsa February 15th would give Colorado a share of the record for consecutive road wins (10), shared by four other clubs, most recently the 2001/2002 Odessa Jackalopes.
With 52 straight regular season sell-outs the 5,289 seat Budweiser Events Center, Colorado also in position to challenge for the minor league record of 83 consecutive sell-outs set by the ECHL's Columbus Chill in the early 90's. 10 home sell-outs to conclude the current season would give the Eagles an opportunity to tie the mark at their 21st home game of next season.

Central Hockey League Performance of the Week
In the most highly anticipated game of the regular season, Bossier-Shreveport's Dan Wildfong led the Mudbugs to a 4-3 win over visiting Laredo on January 28th. After trailing 3-1 in the third period, Wildfong narrowed the margin to 3-2 with his second shorthanded goal of the season, then followed Shane Palahickey's game tying goal with 2:21 to play with the game winner with just 20 seconds remaining. Wildfong's 22nd goal of the year delighted the franchise-record crowd of 12,430 packed into Bossier City's CenturyTel Center, and gave Bossier-Shreveport a 2-0-0 record against Laredo this season.
