THE GAME:

The Colorado Crush return to Pepsi Center for their fourth home contest in five weeks when they host division opponent the Nashville Kats on Sunday, April 1st at 1:00 p.m. MT. Colorado holds a 3-1 advantage in the all-time series with Nashville and won the last meeting 77-47 at Pepsi Center exactly one-year ago (April 1, 2006).

Colorado hopes to get back on track after falling to the Philadelphia Soul last Thursday. Leading the Crush's charge will be wide receiver Damian Harrell. Harrell, who ranks in the AFL's top three in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns, can reach another milestone against Nashville with his next receiving score. Harrell is one touchdown shy of recording his AFL record 70th consecutive game with a TD reception, a streak that began back in 2002.

After starting the season 0-2, the Nashville Kats have put together two impressive wins over the Utah Blaze and Austin Wranglers to pull their record back to .500. During their two game win streak, the Nashville offense has come alive scoring an average of almost 70 points per game.

The biggest reason for the Kats sudden change in fortunes may be the switch in quarterback in Week 3 from Clint Stoerner to rookie Jeff Smoker. Over the last two weeks, Smoker has completed 34-of-55 passes for 553 yards and 11 touchdowns with only one interception. Also spearheading the Nashville offensive attack is fullback Dan Alexander, who leads the AFL in rushing TDs with 12 and rushing attempts with 40 through just four games.

On the defensive side of the ball, two of the AFL's leading defensive players will be on display with league's top tackler Colorado's Rashad Floyd (36.5) and the league's interception leader Nashville's Ahmad Hawkins (4). Crush fans should remember Hawkins as one of the original members of the Crush having played in 64 games with Colorado from 2003-2006. Fans will also see the return of defensive lineman Hugh Hunter, who played three seasons with the Crush and is fourth on the team's all-time sack list.

HEAD COACHES:

MIKE DAILIEY, Colorado (101-66, 11th Year): Mike Dailey enters his fourth season in Colorado and 11th as head coach in the AFL, after becoming the Crush's second head coach on June 26, 2003. Dailey joined the Crush following 13 seasons in the Albany/Indiana Firebirds organization, including the final seven as head coach.

One of the most successful and well-respected coaches in AFL history, Dailey's teams have compiled an overall record of 101-66 record, a winning percentage of 60.5. His teams have also made eight postseason appearances and he has won five division titles and two championships. Following the Crush's 44-40 victory over Kansas City on March 10, 2007, Dailey became only the fourth head coach in AFL history to surpass the 100 win mark. He currently stands as the league fourth all-time winningest coach.

In his first season in Colorado, Dailey helped guide the Crush to the largest turnaround in AFL history, inheriting a 2-14 team and leading them to an 11-5 record in 2004. In 1999, Dailey led the Albany Firebirds to their only ArenaBowl championship and was named AFL Coach of the Year. Before being named head coach of the Firebirds in 1997, Dailey served as an assistant in Albany for five seasons.

Dailey began his AFL coaching career with the Washington Commandos where he served as offensive/defensive line coach in 1990. He joined the Firebirds organization in the same capacity in 1991.

Prior to the AFL, Dailey worked as an assistant coach at Towson State University and was the offensive coordinator at Montgomery College-Rockville (Md.). Dailey got his start in coaching in 1981 as a 22-year-old assistant at Georgetown Prep High School in Rockville, Md. The move to coaching followed a semi-pro football career in the Washington D.C. area.

PAT SPERDUTO, Nashville (48-38-1, 6th Year): In 2006, Pat Sperduto guided his feisty Kats to the postseason

behind strong defense and sound offensive production. The

Kats are on the right path in 2007, looking to build off this

season's strong defense, solid running attack, last season's

playoff run and take his team back to the ArenaBowl, a place the Kats visited in 2000 and 2001.

Sperduto is the owner of ArenaBowl hardware himself having captured three championships- two as a player and one as a coach. Under Sperduto's tutelage, his teams have ranked in the top 10 in scoring offense, scoring defense, and rushing defense each year he has been head coach of the Kats. Sperduto's coaching has garnered several players recognition from the AFL, most notably, James Baron being named Lineman of the Year (2001) and AFL Defensive Player of the Year (1999), AFL First-Team performers Jarrick Hillery (2001) and James Baron (2001) Ironman of the Year Darryl Hammond (1999) and Support Staff of the Year (2005).

Sperduto was at the helm of the original Kats team from

1999-2001, and joined the coaching and scouting staff of the NFL's Tennessee Titans after the Kats franchise was sold and moved to Atlanta in 2001. In 2004, he was given the responsibility to oversee the startup process of a new AFL team to be placed in Nashville, and in 2005 he returned to the sidelines as head coach and director of football operations for the new Nashville Kats.

PAT SPERDUTO YEAR-

LAST TIME THESE TEAMS MET:

DENVER (4/1/06) - A week after scoring an all-time franchise low 21 points, the Colorado Crush matched its club single-game scoring record in a 77-47 rout of the Nashville Kats in front of 14,084 at Pepsi Center on Saturday evening.

The Crush never trailed against the Kats, but it took a run of 21 unanswered points in the second quarter in order to take control of the proceedings against its Central Division rivals. Colorado's defense posted back-to-back defensive stops in the second quarter, first forcing a turnover on downs and then coaxing an interception off the arm of Leon Murray. Nashville's final first-half drive ended in a 53-yard field-goal try that missed wide left.

The teams traded touchdowns through most of the second half, and both roared out of halftime, with each team scoring twice in the first six minutes of the third quarter. Ahmad Hawkins then intercepted Murray on the next play from scrimmage, giving the Crush a possession that allowed the team to permanently claim control of the game.

Dutton and offensive specialist Damian Harrell shared Offensive Player of the Game honors. The two connected 12 times for 134 yards and five touchdowns. Dutton was 26-of-41 overall for 270 yards and a career- and franchise-record nine touchdown passes.

Murray amassed 286 yards and four touchdowns on 15-of-27 passing, but threw four interceptions. Floyd snared two of the errant passes, while two-way players Hawkins and Andy McCullough each had one.

Colorado moved to 7-3 win the win, placing it one game ahead of the 6-4 Kats. The Crush also claimed a potential tiebreaker against the Kats with the 30-point win.

Nashville beat Colorado 58-36 in the teams' Feb. 18 duel, but the Crush's Saturday win allowed it to claim a cumulative point-differential edge, which is the second Arena Football League tiebreaker after head-to-head results.

The tiebreaker led to a bizarre sequence that saw the Crush passing the football in the game's final minute while holding a 23-point lead. The Crush scored to take a 30-point edge, and then Nashville went deep repeatedly on its next possession, looking to trim the lead to 22 and force the scenario to tiebreak No. 3: common opponents.

CRUSH LAST WEEK:

PHILADELPHIA (3/22/07) - The Colorado Crush fell to the Philadelphia Soul for the first time in the team's five-game series history with a 47-71 loss on Thursday night. With the victory, Philadelphia remains undefeated on the season at 3-0, while the Crush drop back to 2-2.

Colorado was plagued by turnovers the entire night, as the Philadelphia defense forced the Crush offense into three interceptions and three four-and-out drives. Soul quarterback Tony Graziani was named the game's Offensive Player of the Game throwing for eight touchdowns on 21-of-31 passing for 312 yards.

The first half could best be described as a game of streaks as twice the Crush built double-digit leads, one of 14 and another of 13 points, only to see the Soul mount comebacks to tie the score each time.

Colorado began the game on a 13-0 run with a Damian Harrell nine-yard touchdown reception followed by a successful on-side kick recovery leading to a John Dutton to Robert Redd 34-yard TD strike. Philadelphia would answer with 13 straight points of their own on touchdown passes from Tony Graziani to Mike Brown and Larry Brackins to end the first quarter.

The Crush would once again surmount a two possession lead as fullback Robert Thomas rushed for a pair of touchdowns from one-yard out each. But the Colorado offense sputtered with consecutive four-and-out drives on their next two possessions opening the door for the Soul to tie the score again at 27-27 on two more Graziani scoring passes, this time to Charles Pauley and Brackins. Philadelphia would miss a 25 yard field goal as time expired to leave the teams locked at the half.

The streak scoring continued to open the third quarter as Graziani completed two more scoring passes, this time to J.J. McKelvey and Pauley, as the Soul scored 28 unanswered points to take their first lead at 41-27.

Philadelphia would close out the contest with 17 straight points on a 22-yard Pauley touchdown, a 39-yard Todd France field goal and a kickoff net recovery in the endzone by Brian Mance. The Soul would outscore the Crush 44 to 20 in the final two quarters.
