Colorado Crush News Release

DENVER, Colo. -- The Colorado Crush have activated fullback/linebacker Rich Young and wide receiver/defensive back Tony Scott from the injured reserve list and placed WR/DB Thal Woods on injured reserve with a hamstring injury, the team announced today.

In other roster moves, the Crush also announced the signing of WR/DB Toure Carter, a 5-10, 183 lb. rookie out of Ashland College, to the practice squad, and the retirement of OL/DL Patrick Downey.

The roster moves leave the Crush active roster at 21 players.

Young (6-3, 255, Tulsa), in his fifth AFL season, injured his shoulder during the fourth quarter of the Crush's loss at New York on April 18 and was placed on injured reserve on April 22. He has missed the last two games, both Crush wins.

Young has appeared in 11 games this season, leading the Crush with four rushing touchdowns, ranking second on the team in rushing yards (48) and tied for second in sacks (2.0).

Scott (5-10, 190, North Carolina State), in his rookie season in the AFL, suffered a strained quadriceps during the third quarter of the Crush's 57-55 win at Los Angeles on April 10. He has totaled 10.5 tackles and five pass-breakups in five games after spending the first five games of the season on injured reserve with a sprained foot.

Woods (5-9, 173, Colorado State), a Denver native, has appeared in the last three games for the Crush after starting the season on the practice squad. He has totaled 4.5 tackles.

Per league rules, any player placed on the injured reserve list must miss a minimum of two games before he is eligible to return to the active roster.

The Crush travel to Indiana to face the Firebirds this Sunday at 1 p.m. on NBC. With a win, the Crush will clinch a playoff spot and set a new record for the biggest two-season turnaround in AFL history.
