Colorado Chill Open Camp Tomorrow in Fort Collins

FORT COLLINS, Colo. - The Colorado Chill and the remainder of the National Women's Basketball League (NWBL) will open 2005 training camp tomorrow in their respective cities announced Colorado Chill owner David King.

"We are excited to get the season going," said King. "We have been preparing this off-season for another successful season, not only on the court, but off as well. We truly believe that we have put together a team this season that fans will be able to relate with and will thoroughly enjoy watching them on the floor"

The Chill has scheduled three two-a-day workouts, before holding a traditional day of practice on Friday. Colorado will hold seven practices before hitting the road to take on the Chicago Blaze in Becky Hammon's hometown of Rapid City, SD on Saturday, January 8th.

Colorado will begin training camp with 13 players on the roster, with 10 competing for full-time roster positions. The list of players includes, Team USA Gold Medallist Ruth Riley, WNBA All-Star Becky Hammon, 2004 Chill MVP Katie Cronin, Teresa Hinz, Shawna Hawes, Erin Scholz, Carrie Bacon, Nikki Rouillard, Danielle Coleman, Jasai Ferrucho, Samaiyah Council and Tiffany McCain.

Bringing the list to 13 will be former Colorado State University - Pueblo standout Nadia Fercha, who signed a one-week contract late last week and will compete for one of the final spots.

The Chill will make their 2005 debut in Colorado on January 9th when they take on the Chicago Blaze at the Budweiser Events Center. The regular season is scheduled to begin on January 15, when the Lubbock Hawks visits Colorado.

The NWBL is a six-team league that features more than 25 active WNBA players. Other teams in the league include the Birmingham Power (Birmingham, Ala.); Dallas Fury (Dallas, Texas); Chicago Blaze (Naperville, Ill.); San Jose Spiders (San Jose, Calif.) and Lubbock Hawks (Lubbock, Texas).

The Colorado Chill team will be at the Foothills Fashion Mall in Fort Collins, Colo. on Friday, January 7th from 5:30 - 7 p.m. Be one of the first 500 fans to visit the Chill table and you will receive one free general admission ticket to opening night on January 15th against the Lubbock Hawks.
