Colorado Chill News Release

FORT COLLINS, Colo. - The Colorado Chill of the National Women's Basketball League (NWBL) and team owner, Dave King, announced today that they have invited Samaiyah Council and Jasai Ferrucho to training camp.

Council, who played collegiately at Lafayette University will compete for a spot on the full-time roster at either the point or shooting guard. Originally from Anchorage, Alas., Council is another player whose speed will play a role this season. She fits nicely into the up-tempo style the Chill hope to have this season.

Ferrucho, a native of Columbia in Central America, is the fourth former CSU Ram to be invited to camp this year. Ferrucho joins CSU alums Katie Cronin, Becky Hammon and Teresa Hinz. Expect Ferrucho's speed to be a major factor in determining minutes this season at the back-up point guard position. She will most likely compete for minutes with Council and recently acquired Nikki Rouillard.

Because Ferrucho is currently serving as a graduate assistant with the Rams, it is unlikely that she will make the full-time roster to her time commitments to the Rams.

"Samaiyah and Jasai will bring great competition to the point guard position, and possibly the two guard" said King. "The two players are great competitors while on the floor and should help make the team better. Their speed off of the bench could be fun to watch as well."

With the additions of Coleman and Rouillard to the roster, the number of players signed now stands at 12. The two players join Team USA Gold Medallist Ruth Riley, WNBA All-Star Hammon, 2004 Chill MVP Cronin, Hinz, Shawna Hawes, Erin Scholz, Carrie Bacon, Nikki Rouillard, Danielle Coleman and Tiffany McCain. Look for the Chill to invite 1-2 more players to training camp, with final roster cuts being made after the January 9th exhibition game against the Chicago Blaze.

The Chill will open the season with a series of exhibition games against the Chicago Blaze beginning on January 8th. The first game will be played in Becky Hammon's hometown of Rapid City, SD, while the second will be played on January 9th back at home at the Budweiser Events Center. The regular season is scheduled to begin on January 15, when the Lubbock Hawks visits Colorado.

Season tickets can be purchased for as low as $112 per seat by calling Aaron Moore at Triple Crown Sports at 970-223-6644. Individual game tickets are also on sale, and can be purchased online at www.comcasttix.com, by phone at 877-544-8499 or at the Budweiser Events Center Box Office.

The NWBL is a six-team league that features more than 25 active WNBA players. Other teams in the league include the Birmingham Power (Birmingham, Ala.); Dallas Fury (Dallas, Texas); Chicago Blaze (Naperville, Ill.); San Jose Spiders (San Jose, Calif.) and Lubbock Hawks (Lubbock, Texas).

Schedule Change

Due to a scheduling conflict with the Budweiser Events Center, the Colorado Chill has moved their game with the Dallas Fury from Tuesday, January 25 to Thursday, January 27. Tip-off for the match-up with the Fury is scheduled for 7 p.m. MST. For additional information on the change, please contact Aaron Moore in the Colorado Chill office.
