Colonials Quarterback Coach Dave Ragone Named Tennessee Titans Wide Receiver Coach

Hartford Colonials News Release
DAVE RAGONE, the Hartford Colonials quarterback coach during the 2010 United Football League season, has been named wide receiver coach for the Tennessee Titans of the National Football League.
Ragone is the second member of the Colonials coaching staff to be hired by the Titans in the last week. Former Colonials Head Coach and General Manager Chris Palmer was named Tennessee offensive coordinator on Feb. 15.
"This opportunity comes as a result of Dave Ragone enjoying an impressive season as a member of the Hartford Colonials coaching staff and further illustrates that the UFL is in the habit of appointing top-quality coaches," said UFL Commissioner Michael Huyghue. "We congratulate him on this move and the opportunity to further his career."
Ragone, 31, is the fourth assistant coach from the 2010 Colonials to join the NFL ranks. Kevin O'Dea (Chicago Bears), Tony Sparano Jr. (Miami Dolphins) and Todd Washington (Baltimore Ravens) were hired by NFL teams, and former Colonials Defensive Coordinator Osai Lewis joined the coaching staff at San Diego State.
In his only season as Colonials QB coach, Ragone worked with NFL veteran Josh McCown and rookie Ryan Perrilloux. McCown was UFL's top-rated passer (79.3) among quarterbacks with at least 150 pass attempts and he led the league with 10 touchdown passes. Perrilloux (75.4 passer rating) signed a reserve/future contract with the New York Giants last month.
A native of Middleburg Heights, Ohio, Ragone was drafted in the third round by the Houston Texans in 2003 following his collegiate career at Louisville. He made two starts at QB with the Texans, both during his rookie season, and completed 20 of 40 passes for 135 yards. During Ragone's three-year stint (2003-05) with the Texans, Palmer was Houston's offensive coordinator.
In 2005, Ragone played for the Berlin Thunder in NFL Europe. He was named Offensive MVP after leading the Thunder to World Bowl XIII. After being waived by the Texans, Ragone was claimed by the Cincinnati Bengals in May 2006. A month later he was traded to the St. Louis Rams, who released him before the season.
