Coleman Returns for 2003

Rochester Brigade News Release


(Rochester, N.Y.)-Rochester Brigade head coach Mark Saunders announced that he has been assigned FB/LB LaMonte Coleman from the arenafootball2 league office for the 2003 season.

Coleman, 5'10, 240 lbs, played his collegiate football at Slippery Rock where he was a back-to-back All-American in 1993 and 1994 and was the starting running back in the 1994 Division II All-Star game. Coleman, joined the Brigade midway through the 2002 season where he played in the team's final seven regular games and the playoff's. In seven regular season games he registered 30 rushes for 108 yards and one score. He also caught four balls for 17 yards and registered 5.5 tackles, one pass breakup and recovered one fumble for a score. In his only playoff game last season he rushed the ball four times for six yards and registered 2.5 tackles. Prior to joining the Brigade he played in first six games of the 2002 season with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers where he registered 36 rushes for 125 yards and two touchdowns.

"He's (LaMonte Coleman) a good player to have back because he's one of the true running backs in arena football, and he's a great leader," commented Saunders. "He's happy to come back and we're happy to have him back."

Saunders has also been assigned OL/DL Montra Edwards from the af2 league office. The 6'5, 315 lbs lineman played his collegiate football at Jackson State University in Jackson, Mississippi as an offensive lineman.
