Spokane Shock News Release
February 13, 2009: Spokane, WA: The Spokane Shock announced today that they have reached an agreement to retain Defensive Coordinator Alex Sirianni. This will be Sirianni's third season as a member of the coaching staff.
Last season, the Sirianni-led Shock defense placed near the top of the league in several key defensive categories, finishing third in total defense (first in the National Conference), first in rushing defense (14.6 yards/game), and third in pass defense efficiency (first in the National Conference).
"I'm excited to be back," Sirianni said. "I think each year our defense has improved and now in my third season I feel like we have the blueprints for another successful defense."
Sirianni's defense created 46 turnovers last season (5th in league), the most in franchise history.
"Coach Sirianni is one of the brightest minds in the game and I'm happy to have him back on our staff," Head Coach Adam Shackleford said. "His defense has played a big part in winning 30 games in the two seasons he has been here."
The Spokane Shock will open the 2009 season at the Spokane Arena on Spokane Tribe Field April 3rd. Season tickets are on sale now and can be purchased by calling 509 242 7462.
