Coach Porter to attend Westside Middle School

NEW LONDON, C.T. (March 27th, 2002)- Mohegan Wolves Head Coach Gary Porter is taking time out of training camp to speak to students at Westside Middle School in Groton, Connecticut. This marks the third time in the past week that Coach Porter and the Mohegan Wolves staff have spoken at area schools.

Last week Head Coach Gary Porter, General Manager Jim Odle, Director of Football Operations Andy Osborne, Director of Marketing & Sales Amber Reed, Account Executive Rob Odle, Ticket Manager Dustin Ward, Special Teams Coach Sam Romanella, and players Anthony Giovingo and Carl Wisnieski attended Career Night at Ledyard High School and spoke about working in professional sports. Last Tuesday Head Coach Porter and Director of Football Operations Andy Osborne attended a career fair at Fitch High School, again speaking with kids about how to get involved in professional sports.

On Thursday Coach Porter will speak to the assembly of about 250 students for about a half hour starting at 1:30 Thursday afternoon. He will touch on the importance of staying in school and following the right path as well as what the upcoming season has to hold for the Wolves.

Head Coach Gary Porter had this to say about the assembly: "I'm excited to take the time to talk to these young people about education and the role it played in my career. We (Mohegan Wolves) are excited to get involved in the local community, and there is no better way to do that then get out to the area schools."

The Wolves begin play a week from this Friday (April 5th) when they entertain the Albany Conquest at the grandiose Mohegan Sun Arena.
