Las Vegas Gladiators News Release

Las Vegas, NV, September 22, 2004 – In a trend-setting move, the Las Vegas Gladiators announced today that starting quarterback Clint Dolezel has been named the team's offensive coordinator. Dolezel spent last season coordinating the offense in conjunction with the Gladiators head coach. As per league rules, Dolezel will not receive any monetary compensation for his additional responsibilities.

Dolezel is the first player in the AFL to have a coach's title since New York Dragons' quarterback Aaron Garcia was listed as offensive coordinator in 2003.

Dolezel has played in the AFL for nine seasons, leading the Grand Rapids Rampage to the ArenaBowl championship in 2001.

"Clint Dolezel is, without question, the leader of our football team on the field," new Gladiators' head coach Ron James said. "He knows how to run an arena football offense as well as anyone in the league, and there was no point in trying to bring in someone who could better run his system when we already had the guy to do it right here."

Dolezel enters his second season with the Gladiators as the starting quarterback and ranks among the AFL's all-time leaders with a 66-career completion percentage, 575 passing touchdowns, 2,441 pass completions, 28,850 passing yards and 3,536 pass attempts. Dolezel is only the fourth player in AFL history to throw for 500 touchdowns and pass for more than 25,000 yards and third player with more than 2,000 career completions.

"Being named offensive coordinator is a great honor," Dolezel said. "I have spent a lot of time in this league and the team that Coach James is putting together will compete with anyone. I am excited about getting to work and bringing a championship to Las Vegas."

Gladiators' 2005 season seats are on sale now. Fans interested in purchasing Gladiators' season seats can do so by calling the Gladiators office at 702-731-4977 or by going online at www.UNLVtickets.com.
