December 8, 2009 - Arena Football League (AFL)
Cleveland Gladiators News Release
CLEVELAND - JIM FERRARO, along with former Browns quarterback BERNIE KOSAR are pleased to announce the return of Arena Football with a new team named the Cleveland Gladiators, who will return to the field in 2010 as members of the Arena Football One League. The announcement was made at a press conference at Quicken Loans Arena.
The Gladiators will retain their name, logo and colors (red, black and white).
The Gladiators have played only one other season in Cleveland, playing in the now-defunct Arena Football League. In their lone season, Ferraro's Gladiators finished with a 9-7 regular season record and advanced to the AFL's Eastern Conference Championship game.
The Gladiators will continue to play their home games at Quicken Loans Arena where they boasted a 6-2 regular season record in 2008, along with an opening round playoff victory. 2010 Season Ticket deposits are being accepted by calling the Gladiators offices at 216.685.9000.
"We are pleased to welcome the Cleveland market to the Arena Football One family," said Commissioner JERRY KURZ. "With the return of Arena Football in 2010 and with the great ownership of Jim Ferraro and leadership of Bernie Kosar, we are extremely pleased to have our great game of Arena Football return to Cleveland."
The Gladiators are joined in Arena Football One by former AFL markets, including Arizona, Chicago, Dallas, Orlando and Utah. Other markets include: Alabama, Bossier-Shreveport, Iowa, Jacksonville, Milwaukee, Oklahoma City, Spokane and Tulsa.
Be a part of all of the hard-hitting action as Arena Football returns to Quicken Loans Arena in 2010, when the Cleveland Gladiators take the field. Season ticket deposits are being accepted now by calling the Gladiators at 216.685.9000 or visiting www.clevelandgladiators.com.
