Charlotte Knights News Release

(LOUISVILLE, KY) -- Carson's Blair's late-inning heroics proved to be the difference for the Knights on Sunday.

Blair's RBI single in the top of the 10th inning led the Charlotte Knights to a thrilling 7-6 win over the Louisville Bats in the finale of their four-game series from Louisville Slugger Field on Sunday afternoon. With the win, the Knights earned a four-game series sweep over the Bats and finished the road trip by winning four of seven games. The win also pushed the Knights over the .500 mark for the season (18-17).

Making just his fifth start of the season with the Knights, Blair contributed in a big way in Sunday's finale. With the game knotted at 5-5, Blair doubled home Rymer Liriano in the top of the eighth inning to give the Knights a 6-5 lead. Two innings later, a big RBI single once again put the Knights ahead of the Bats. This time, it was for good.

Blair singled off Louisville LHP Lucas Luetge (0-2, 4.71), which scored pinch-runner Tyler Ladendorf in the 10th inning to give the Knights a 7-6 lead and ultimately the win. LHP Will Lamb came on in the bottom of the 10th and struck-out one batter en route to his first save of the season. Charlotte RHP Brad Goldberg (2-1, 2.87) earned the win out of the bullpen. Blair finished the game 2-for-5 with a run scored and two RBIs.

Jacob May also had a solid day at the plate for the Knights. May went 2-for-5 with a run scored, a double, and an RBI. He extended his hit streak to 13 consecutive games. Danny Hayes launched his team-high eighth home run of the season in the sixth inning and reached base a total of three times on the day. Nicky Delmonico added two hits.

RHP Tyler Danish started for the Knights and gave up five runs (two earned) on six hits over six innings pitched. He did not factor in the decision.

The Knights will now return home to Uptown Charlotte and open a quick three-game series against the Durham Bulls (Triple-A affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays) on Monday night at BB&T Ballpark. RHP Chris Volstad (0-2, 6.55) will get the start for the Knights against Durham RHP Jacob Faria (4-0, 3.47). Pre-game radio coverage of Monday's 7:05 p.m. game will begin at 6:50 p.m. on ESPN Charlotte (730 AM) and CharlotteKnights.com. The "Voice of the Charlotte Knights" Matt Swierad and long-time Knights radio broadcaster Mike Pacheco will have the call for all of the action.
