Tucson Toros News Release
The Tucson Toros defeated the Orange County Flyers 9-3 on Sunday night at Hi Corbett Field. This victory marks the first series sweep for the Toros in GBL history, and improves their record to (4-3) on the season.
The Toros got another victory thanks to their impressive starting pitching. Danny Greenwalt went 7 innings allowing only 8 hits that led to one run, and gave Greenwalt his first victory of the season.
Tucson broke the game open in the bottom of the 7th when five consecutive hits lead to four Toros runs. The offensive charged was lead by designated hitter Jim Rushford who went 2-4 with 2 RBIs and a run scored.
Toros CF Andre Marshall left the game after 4 innings when he appeared to have injured his left elbow while trying to make a diving catch in the top of the 4th. He finished out the defensive side of the inning, but was later replaced by OF Lyndon Poole.
The Edmonton Capitals are next up for Toros on Monday night. This will be game one of a three game series against the Capitals. The starters for both teams have yet to be announced. Game time is 7pm and the gates will open at 6 pm for "Family Mondays."
