CIS Star David Tyndale 1st Brampton A's New Signee

August 28, 2014 - National Basketball League of Canada (NBL Canada)
Orangeville A's News Release

Brampton, ON - The Brampton A's are proud to announce David Tyndale, a 5'11" Mississauga native, who was All OUA (Ontario University Athletics) and All Canadian at York University, as their first "official signee" for the 2014-15 season.

Tyndale is the 3rd CIS (Canadian Interuniversity Sport) player to be signed by the A's in their first 2 years as a franchise in the NBL. The signing of Tyndale perpetuates the A's goal to attain the best Canadian talent to ultimately build the franchise. Last season the A's had 4 Canadians on the roster, who all started at some point in the season and accounted for nearly 40% of the minutes played in the 2013-14 season.

In Tyndale, the A's are getting a young man who has proven to be a winner and leader at every level of basketball. He has been recorded as one of the all time leaders in scoring, assists and steals in York University history. Tyndale was a 4-time captain and a player that York coach Tom Oliveri has nothing but praise for.

"His work ethic is probably what I admire most," Oliveri says. "He's constantly working on his game, and that's hard to do."

A's GM/Head Coach David Magley first saw David play when he was on a team that toured China and faced the A's a couple times in scrimmages in pre-season. Magley recalls, "he really stood out, a tough defender, who pushed the ball hard and seemed to score at will on us." When the season ended, the first person that Magley looked for was Tyndale, inviting him to come for a work out. "At the first combine of the summer David was once again significantly better than anyone there that day. He appears to be a real pro with a drive to succeed, which is hard to find," states Magley.

Tyndale and the A's will begin training camp October 1st in Orangeville ON, at the Athlete Institute. The remainder of the 2014-15 team will be announced in the days to come. This season's team promises to be one of familiar faces compiled with some new compliments to help the A's build on their 27-13, 2nd place finish in their inaugural season.

The Brampton A's first game will be Saturday November 1st, 2014 at the Powerade Centre against local rival, the Mississauga Power.
