Cincinnati, TQL Stadium Have Become Regular Home for U.S. National Teams

Cincinnati and TQL Stadium have become popular home sites for international soccer. The U.S. Women's National Team will return to TQL Stadium on September 21 for a friendly with South Africa, their first fixture following the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup and the team's second visit to Cincinnati in three years.

The match will also mark the sixth international match to be played at TQL Stadium, the fifth involving the United States National Teams of either gender after hosting the 2023 Concacaf Gold Cup.

FC Cincinnati's home grounds have become known for its raucous support and sold-out crowds for international events, making it an ideal spot for the national teams to come play and have a home crowd advantage. With average crowds of 24,374 for international matches, sellouts have been standard in the Queen City.

The growing excitement for soccer comes in tandem with the success of FC Cincinnati and the building of TQL Stadium. This season The Orange and Blue have sold out 10 of 12 MLS home matches, more than any season in the club's history, making TQL Stadium a staple for the city of Cincinnati to host high profile and exciting matches.

In the USWNT's previous appearance at TQL Stadium, the women dominated Paraguay in an 8-0 win. Other notable performances include the USMNT's 2-0 win over Mexico in the 2020 FIFA World Cup qualification and their most recent penalty kick victory over Canada in the 2023 Gold Cup.

"We are thrilled to again host the U.S. Women's National Team at TQL Stadium," said Jeff Berding, FC Cincinnati Co-CEO. "It will be a fun evening this September to showcase our award-winning stadium and incredible sports vibe in Cincinnati. We have a proud history of hosting exciting events with U.S. Soccer.

The match with South Africa comes as a double-billing, with the second game against Bafana-Bafana coming on September 24 in Chicago.

"The focus right now is of course on the World Cup, but to get two great matches in our first games back in the USA in two stadiums that are really fun to play in will be awesome for our players and the fans," said U.S. head coach Vlatko Andonovski in a statement made along with the announcement.

The fixture with South Africa will also be an opportunity to host Cincinnati natives Rose Lavelle and Aubrey Kingsbury, who will play with the national team in the World Cup starting July 20 in Australia and New Zealand.

TICKETSPresales for both matches will begin on Wednesday, July 19 with the public sale beginning on Tuesday, July 25. 2023 FC Cincinnati season ticket holders, as well as 2024 deposit holders, will have a presale window beginning Friday, July 21 at 11 a.m. ET. Depending on remaining ticket availability, groups of 20 or more can order at ussoccer.com starting Wednesday, July 26.
