Cincinnati Readies for Weekend Games

May 27, 2003 - A-League (A-League)
Cincinnati Riverhawks News Release

(Cincinnati, OH) – The Cincinnati Riverhawks are preparing for another two game weekend. The Hawks travel to Richmond to take on the Kickers this Friday May 30 then travel back home to play the El Paso Patriots Sunday June 1.

"The team should be in good shape," said Coach Nick Ranieri. "The players have had a good rest and have had the opportunity to heal some minor injuries. We are confident about the games but are worried a bit since we have not played in two weeks."

The Riverhawks last game was May 18, a 2-1 loss to the Minnesota Thunder that went to double overtime and kept Cincinnati out of the U.S. Open Cup.

Cincinnati will be without starting defender Jeremie Piette who will be serving a two game suspension and forward Craig Yacks and keeper Eric Pattison who are both out a few more weeks with injuries.

"I am confident our players will do well," commented Ranieri. "They play with a lot of heart. We plan on giving Richmond and El Paso good games. We won't let the opportunity of increasing our lead in the division pass us by."

Game time on May 30 in Richmond is 7:00 pm and 5:05 pm for the June 1 home game against El Paso.

As an A-League premier team and part of the United Soccer Leagues, the Cincinnati Riverhawks enter its sixth season in 2003. For tickets and general team information call (513) 326-GOAL or visit www.riverhawks.com.
