Published on May 27, 2003 under A-League (A-League) News Release
TAMPA, FL â United Soccer Leagues announced the Teams and Players of the Week for the sixth week of the season for the A-League, USL Pro Select League, Premier Development League and W-League, honoring Milwaukee's Todd Dusosky, Western Mass' Rob Jachym, Toledo's Kenny Uzoigwe and Northern Kentucky's Laura Piening.
Milwaukee Wave United earned its first franchise victory at home Friday with a 2-0 win over Charlotte with the first goal in franchise history coming from Todd Dusosky. Dusosky, who was named the A-League Player of the Week, also notched the game-winner in a 2-1 win at Minnesota the following night.
One minute into the second half against the Eagles, Dusosky spotted goalkeeper Chris McClellan out of position and sent a 19-yard chip into the back of the net. The next night, the third-year A-Leaguer nodded home the winner against his former team in the 88th minute on a Dino Dilevski corner kick.
Dusosky spent the 2000 season with the Milwaukee Rampage, registering three goals and one assist in nine games. He also played for the Minnesota Thunder, tallying three goals and an assist. He has played in the Major Indoor Soccer League since 1995, debuting with Cleveland and joining his current Milwaukee Wave side in 1996.
The Western Mass Pioneers dominated the visiting Reading Rage in a 6-2 win with forward and USL Pro Select League Player of the Week Rob Jachym setting the tone with a hat-trick just 33 minutes into the match for a 3-0 lead. His tallies came in the sixth, 13th and 33rd minutes.
The fifth-year Pioneer now has six goals and three assists on the year through five games. It is the fourth time he has recorded 15 points in a season with his best output coming in his rookie 1999 season when he posted 19 goals and eight assists to finish fifth in the league in points, goals and assists.
The Toledo Slayers picked up their first-ever victory at home Wednesday in a thrilling 5-3 match with the West Michigan Edge as Kenny Uzoigwe notched four goals to earn the PDL Player of the Week honor.
Uzoigwe opened the scoring with the game's lone first-half tally in the 12th minute on an assist from Joe Khalil and pushed the Slayers to a 2-0 lead in the 54th on the first of three assists on the night from Bonyoko Bokole.
The Edge would pull two back in the next 20 minutes to level the score at 2-2 in the 75th minute. Two minutes later, Uzoigwe scored his third of the game and then notched his fourth and what proved to be the game-winner in the 83rd minute for a 4-2 lead. Bokole added an insurance tally in the 88th.
The Northern Kentucky TC Stars won just two games last season. Through three games this year, the club is unbeaten with two victories coming on a road trip to Chicago this past weekend. Leading the way to the victories was goalkeeper and W-League Player of the Week Lauren Piening.
In Friday's 2-1 win over the Chicago Cobras, Piening made 11 stops in the match against the Cobras side that outshot the TC Stars 17-5 in the match.
The following night, Piening posted another four saves in a 3-1 win against the Windy City Bluez.
With the TC Stars last season, Piening only recorded one win in eight games with a goals-against average of 1.95.
