Cincinnati Kings News Release

RICHMOND, VA --The Cincinnati Kings opened their third season Saturday night with a 2-0 loss on the road against the defending division champion Richmond Kickers in USL Second Division action.

The match was a defensive battle until the 71st minute in the second half, when the Kickers' Michael Burke broke the scoreless tie with the game's first goal. The Kickers followed 11 minutes later with the second and final goal of the night off a free kick by Sascha Gorres.

"We feel as good as possible about this game even though we lost," said Kings Coach Jon Pickup. "We did play well, especially in the first 25 minutes of the second half. Richmond will be a strong contender to defend its division championship."

The Kings had four shots on goal in the game to the Kickers' 10, and the Kings had four saves in goal to Richmond's one.

The Kings will open the home part of their 2007 schedule at their new home at Town and Country Sports & Health Club, Wilder, Kentucky, next Saturday, April 28, against the expansion Cleveland City Stars at 7:30 p.m.
