Cincinnati Kings Earn First Home Win Of Season

The Cincinnati Kings get a natural hat trick in the first half and make it hold up as they earn their first home win of the season with a 4-0 victory over the visiting New Hampshire Phantoms in United Soccer Leagues Second Division action.

Kings Forward Mike McGinlay got three straight goals in the third, 18th and 26th minutes of the first half to put the Kings up early, then Sam Miller scored on a point blank shot in extra time, assisted by Thies Hermann, to post the 4-0 lead by the half. Hermann also was credited with assists on two of the McGinlay scores, with Romain Cheurlin getting the assist on McGinlay's second goal.

The Kings took seven shots on goal in the first half alone, with four scores. The Kings had 11 shots total for the game, while the Phantoms had nine, six in the first half. The Kings' new starter in goal, Francois Dubourdeau, was credited with five saves.

With the win, the Kings' record improves to 2-3-1, tied for fifth place in the USL Second Division. The Phantoms are still looking for their first victory of the season, with two losses and two ties.

The Kings stay home next week to face the Wilmington Hammerheads next Thursday, May 24 at 7:30 p.m. at the Town and Country Sports Complex in Wilder, Ky.
