CINCINNATI (July 23, 2006) -- The Cincinnati Kings extended their winning streak to three games with a 3-2 win over the Harrisburg City Islanders today at Xavier University Soccer Complex. The Kings now stand at 7-5-3 in the United Soccer Leagues' Second Division and are tied for third place.
Harrisburg scored first in the 15th minute with a goal by Chad Severs assisted by Jamel Mitchell. The Kings first goal came off a penalty kick by Trey Alexander in the 44th minute of the first half. The Kings took the lead early in the second half with a goal by Michael McGinlay just 45 seconds into the half, assisted by John Krause. Derek Smith scored the third goal in the 54th minute with the assist coming from McGinlay. The City Islanders' Severs scored again in the 86th minute assisted by David Schofield.
Kings' goalkeeper Jordan James had five saves while the City Islanders' Dave Kern had eight saves on goal. Cincinnati outshot Harrisburg, 16-15.
The Kings begin a three-game roadtrip this Wednesday traveling to Long Island with kickoff scheduled at noon. The team returns to action at home for the final game of the season on August 12. For tickets to the season finale, visit www.cincinnatikings.com
