Penn FC News Release

(Cincinnati, OH, July 23, 2006) - Despite a Chad Severs brace, the Harrisburg City Islanders dropped a 3-2 decision to the Cincinnati Kings at Xavier University Soccer Complex on Sunday afternoon, falling to 6-7-3 (21 points) on the season.

The City Islanders find themselves tied with the New Hampshire Phantoms (7-7-1, 21; the club has been penalized a point for using an ineligible player in a match) for fifth place in the USL Second Division, while Cincinnati (7-5-3, 24) moves into a third-place tie with the Pittsburgh Riverhounds.

The City Islanders grabbed an early lead in the 15th minute, when Chad Severs found the net for the second time since returning to Harrisburg on loan from Rochester of the USL First Division on July 13.

The Kings fought back and managed to tie the match up shortly before the half as midfielder Trey Alexander successfully converted a penalty kick in the 44th minute.

Cincinnati, likely eager to avenge a 5-1 loss to Harrisburg here on July 2, took firm control of the match with two scores in the first eight minutes of the second half, and Michael McGinlay was involved in both. McGinlay scored his third goal of the year in the 46th minute, and set up Derek Smith's score in the 54th minute. The Kings led 3-1.

Harrisburg got one back in the 86th minute when Severs struck again, but it was too late as the City Islanders fell to 1-2-0 against the Kings this season.

Notes: The City Islanders remain on the road next weekend, facing the Wilmington Hammerheads (Fri., July 28, 7:30 p.m.) and Charlotte Eagles (Sat., July 29, 7:30 p.m.) in a North Carolina trip. Harrisburg's final two games, both at home, will come on Friday, August 5, versus Cincinnati and Saturday, August 11, against New Hampshire. Both games will kick off at 7:05 p.m. at Skyline Sports Complex.
