St. Louis Flight News Release

(St. Louis, MO) -- A second half offensive explosion catapulted Cincinnati to a 102-to-98 win over the St. Louis Flight Thursday night at the Family Arena. Cincinnati's Tony Rice scored 25 of his 27 points in that second half and the Monarchs out scored St. Louis 68-to-42 to improve their American Basketball Association record to 5-and-7. Rice's sixth three pointer of the game broke a 95-95 tie with just over a minute to play. His seventh three clinched the win in the final seconds.

St. Louis (10-18) led 34-to-17 after the first quarter with guards Cedric Moodie and Tim Pledger combining for 23 of those points. Moodie finished with 24. Tyrone Lee was ejected from the game early in the third quarter for a flagrant elbowing foul, but still finished with 12 rebounds.

The two teams finish a ‘home and home' series in Cincinnati on Saturday night. St. Louis concludes its first season in the ABA with home games Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights.
