Utah Royals FC News Release
SANDY, UTAH - Utah Royals FC FW Christen Press has been selected as the National Women's Soccer League Player of the Month for the month of August after scoring three goals in the month to climb to seventh in the league's scoring charts and helping URFC back into playoff position with an unbeaten month.
This marks the second time the California native has been awarded this honor. She was previously selected during the month of April in 2015 during which she recorded four goals and one assist in two games while with the Chicago Red Stars.
Her performance this month included scoring two goals in two minutes on August 7 to aide in Utah Royals FC defeating Sky Blue FC 3-0.
Press' dominance during the game kick-started a four-game unbeaten streak for Utah, including three road matches.
Against Orlando Pride on August 17 Press tallied her third goal of the month to help lift the team on the road.
Fellow Royals FC teammate, FW Amy Rodriguez, finished third in the voting this month for scoring three goals in three consecutive matches. Portland Thorns FC forward Christine Siclair finished second.
Utah Royals FC returns to action this Friday, September 6 at Rio Tinto Stadium against Portland Thorns FC. Tickets can be purchased by visiting UtahRoyalsFC.com or by calling 844.REAL.TIX.
The NWSL Player of the Month is selected each month of the regular season by the NWSL Media Association, a collection of writers that cover the league on a consistent basis.
