WENATCHEE, Wash. - The North American Hockey League (NAHL) West Division champion Wenatchee Wild announced today that Andrew Christ (Spokane, Wash.) has committed to continue his education and hockey career at Fredonia State University next year.
Christ recorded 19 points (10G, 9A) in 54 games with the Wild in 2009-10. A 6-foot-4-inch, 203-pound forward, Christ scored one goal in five games during the 2010 Robertson Cup playoffs and was a plus-3.
"It feels good to achieve what I have been working towards in my hockey career, which is a college commitment," Christ said. "I am excited knowing that I will be spending the next four years at Fredonia State playing hockey."
The Division III Fredonia State Blue Devils compete in the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC). Under Jeff Meredith, who recently finished his 22nd season as head coach, the Blue Devils qualified for postseason play 18 out of the last 19 years, won three SUNYAC championships and made two NCAA Final Four appearances.
"We are very happy that Andrew has made his decision for next year to a quality school like Fredonia State," said Ryan McKelvie, Wild associate head coach. "He is a big part of the success that we have had so far this season, and he is going to be a great addition to the Fredonia State hockey team. Fredonia is getting a very good player and a phenomenal person."
