Macon Knights News Release

MACON, Ga. – The Macon Knights announced this week that offensive and defensive lineman Chris Smith has been traded to Cape Fear. This move completes the trade that sent Mike Gluski to Cape Fear and brought Norman Mason to Macon.

Smith played in six games for the Knights this season recording 2.5 tackles and one reception for 12 yards. Smith, who played for Quad City last season, is playing his second season in the af2.

The Smith trade was set in motion in April, when the league office assigned QB John Rayborn to Macon. As a result, Gluski was traded to Cape Fear for future consideration. Last week, Cape Fear sent Mason – their leading receiver, scorer and kick returner – to Macon, and Smith's departure to Cape Fear ends the deal between the two teams.

Cape Fear (7-2) boasts a five-game winning streak and is a strong contender for a spot in the ArenaCup playoffs. While Macon does not play Cape Fear in the regular season, the two teams could meet in one of the later rounds of the playoffs. Macon is one win away from clenching a playoff berth and Cape Fear is currently in second place of the American Conference Atlantic Division.

Macon is back in action Friday, June 14th at 7:30 pm at Jacksonville. The Knights next home game is Friday, June 28th at 7:30 pm against Tallahassee. Catch all of the Knights' action on Classic Rock 92.3 FM.
