ALBANY, NY (September 12, 2006) - The Minot Skyrockets of the Continental Basketball Association (CBA) officially announced Chris Daleo as their new Head Coach for the 2006-07 season. Most recently, Daleo served as Head Coach of the Rockford Lightning of the CBA, compiling a regular season record of 113-79 (.589 winning percentage) in the past four seasons with the Lightning.
"It is our pleasure to announce Chris Daleo as the Head Coach of the Minot Skyrockets," said Joe Clark, CEO and Managing Partner of Apex Sportstainment, LLC, which owns four CBA franchises including the Skyrockets. "Coach Daleo is an experienced CBA coach who knows how to win. We look forward to seeing a talented and formidable basketball team under his leadership."
"I am very pleased to be joining the Minot Skyrockets organization," stated Daleo. "Minot is a great basketball town and I look forward to bringing a CBA championship to the Magic City."
Named the CBA Coach of the Year in 2002-03 after leading the Lightning to a career best 32-16 record, Daleo took Rockford to the CBA playoffs in all four years including the finals once. He was named CBA coach of the month four times in his career (Nov. 2002, Dec. 2002, Nov. 2005, and Jan. 2006), as well as named CBA Eastern Conference All-Star Coach three times. Previous to joining the Lightning as a head coach, he was the Head Coach and Athletic Director at Barat College in Lake Forest, IL, where he led the Bulldogs to a conference championship in 2002 and took the team to their first-ever Final Four appearance in NAIA Division I. He posted a 66-39 record at Barat and was voted 2002 NAIA Division I Coach of the Year by the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association. Prior to his success at Barat College, he served as assistant coach for the Rockford Lightning. Internationally, he has taken teams to compete in China, defeating several Chinese A-1 teams and also served as one of eight head coaches in the Treviso Summer League in Italy this past year.
"We are pleased to have Chris back in the fold," said CBA Director of Operations Dennis Truax. "The strength of our league is our players and coaches and Chris is one of the best we have. The fans in Minot will be very pleased to have him on the sidelines this season leading the Skyrockets."
