Arizona Sundogs News Release
PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. - The Arizona Sundogs announced today that forward Chris Capraro has joined the club for the upcoming 2011-12 Central Hockey League season.
The Sundogs initially announced the signing on their website through a sign language video with the help of Kathy Lillian and Nada Davis of Prescott's Special Needs Activities Program (SNAP). SNAP offers recreational programs for individuals with mental and physical handicaps. One of the options SNAP offers is sign language classes.
The 27-year-old, Medford, Massachusetts native is entering his fifth season as a pro in 2011-12. Capraro (kuh-PRAH-roh) played four years with the University of Massachusetts at Amherst before beginning his career with the Trenton Titans of the ECHL. Capraro went on to play four seasons in the ECHL and two overseas in Germany.
"Chris will bring experience and skill to our team," said head coach Marco Pietroniro. "We're excited to bring him in and add him to our roster."
The 5-foot-7, 186-pound forward returns to the United States after last season with Germany's Freiburg EHC, where he scored 37 total points in 40 games - 10 goals and 27 assists. His best season as a pro came during 2007-08, when he scored 51 points in 69 games for the ECHL's Charlotte Checkers.
The Sundogs begin training camp on Monday, October 10th at Tim's Toyota Center.
