Fort Worth Cats News Release
United League President Byron Pierce announced this week that Chris Booker will be the head of umpires in the United League for the upcoming 2013 season, which begins in May.
Chris Booker has umpired in all different levels of the NCAA, including Division I ball in the Southland Conference. The resident of Keller, Texas also was the crew chief for the Lone Star, Heartland, and Great American Conference. Booker spent some time as umpire for Fort Worth Cats games at LaGrave Field last season and is now given the opportunity to lead all umpires throughout the United League.
"My goals are to compliment and support the efforts of the ULB. The members of this umpiring staff and myself are committed to self-improvement and professionalism, while upgrading the quality of the umpiring," said Chris Booker.
"We are very pleased to have Chris heading up the umpires for the United League. His professionalism and work ethic is second to none," stated Steve Maddock, United League President of Baseball Operations. "Having professional quality umpires is very important to the league and Chris is the perfect person for the job."
In addition to United League games throughout the 2013 season, Booker will also hold umpire clinics in Fort Worth in coordination with player tryouts held at LaGrave Field. Any persons interested in being a part of clinics can contact Chris Booker directly at cbook9@yahoo.com.
