Edmonton Chill News Release

Edmonton, Alberta The Edmonton Chill will open their first ever training camp on Wednesday April 9th at several locations throughout the city. The camp will run through Sunday April 13th and be highlighted by two big events.

On Friday April 11th the Chill will play an exhibition game against the Alberta AllStars. The game will be held at Grant MacEwan's Center for Sport and Wellness, the Chill's home court, and will begin at 7:30pm.

Tickets are $5 and available at the door, or at the Chill office starting next week.

On Sunday, April 13, the team will hold an open house from 58pm, also at the Grant MacEwan gym. Fans are invited to come and purchase tickets for the upcoming season and will be able to see exactly where they will sit and their view as the team finishes training camp with a full team workout that will open to the public. The Edmonton Chill Dance Team will also be holding practice that evening in the gym.

The Chill kick off the season on Saturday, April 26 with a home game against the Bellingham Slam. For ticket information, or general team questions, please contact Assistant GM Nick Padow at nick@edmontonchill.com or (780) 4387283.

Two key IBL rules (1. Immediate inbounds 2. Teams are allowed one timeout per quarter) work to eliminate dead time and promote a freeflowing, highscoring game that lasts only two hours. 2008 marks the IBL's fourth season, and it will be the first that the league is truly international, as China (Shanxi Kylins) and Canada (Edmonton Chill) will be part of the IBL this season. The IBL recently added an Asian Expansion Department which has resulted in commitments from two Chinese teams and a team from Japan joining in 2009. The league is expecting to add teams from South Korea and the Philippines in the future as well. A second Canadian team (Vancouver, British Columbia) has also committed to join in 2009.

Beyond exciting basketball, the IBL offers owners the most efficient business model in the industry. Organizing teams in regional clusters has enabled the IBL to offer owners an unprecedented 'One Flight Guarantee'. IBL teams can play a variety of opponents from all over the country, indeed, the world-and only fly once. This efficiency applies to international teams, who can play a complete away schedule with only one flight to the U.S.
