Edmonton Chill News Release
With the news of the bet between team owners fresh in their ears, and sharp-shooter Stephen Sir sitting out with an ankle injury, team captain JR Patrick decided to take matters into his own hands, scoring a team-high 28 and leading a balanced Chill attack to a 134-126 win, the team's sixth straight.
Patrick was one of seven Chill players to score in double figures during the back and forth contest with the Snohomish Co. Explosion. The Chill never trailed in the contest as they raced out to a 7-0 lead and had doubled up the Explosion 32-16 after the opening 12 minutes. The visitors were game opponents however as they scored a whopping 41 points in the second quarter including four quick ones as the time expired to pull within three at the half, 60-57. When the teams returned for the final 24 minutes, the Chill opened the game up and led by as much as 18 in the third, but as the Explosion shooters found their groove, they were able to whittle the lead to just three on some deep three's from Chris Keller (12 points) and Jamal Miller (30 points). Once again, the Chill were able to hold off a late charge and thanks to strong rebounding and clutch free-throws, the Chill were able to hold on for their sixth straight win.
The Chill will be back at the MacEwan gym next weekend as they welcome in the Portland Chinooks for two games, Friday and Saturday.
