Chill Re-Signs Fitzgerald; Zschau And Iya Added
October 29, 2002 - United States Professional Volleyball League (USPV) - Minnesota Chill News Release
ROCHESTER, MINN., October 29, 2002_ The Minnesota Chill today announced the re-signing of opposite hitter Kate Fitzgerald (Milwaukee, Wis., University of Wisconsin).
Fitzgerald stepped in to an injury-ravaged Chill lineup midway through the season and averaged 1.9 points per game, including a 16-point effort in a match against Chicago. A shoulder injury kept Fitzgerald out of the playoffs.
The Chill also announced it has signed middle blocker Ladi Iya (Jos, Nigeria, University of Evansville) and outside hitter Kim Zschau (Dunedin, Fla., Kansas State University). Iya and Zschau both played for Grand Rapids last season.
Iya played 13 regular season matches last season and averaged 1.8 points per game for Grand Rapids. Zschau averaged 1.9 points and 2.3 digs per game.
The Chill begins defense of its USPV championship on January 10 when it hosts Chicago in a rematch of last year's USPV championship series at the Mayo Civic Center Auditorium in Rochester, Minn.
