Colorado Chill News Release

FORT COLLINS, Colo. - The Colorado Chill of the National Women's Basketball League (NWBL) and team owner, Dave King, announced today that they have signed standout guard Kate Fagan to a contract.

Fagan, who played her college ball right down the road at the University of Colorado at Boulder, joins the Chill after a stint of playing ball overseas. After leaving CU, the former Buffalo sharpshooter played during the fall in Ireland.

As a member of the CU women's basketball team Fagan broke and now holds several records, most notable as a three-point shooter. During her Honorable Mention All-Big XII season (2003-04), Fagan broke the school record for three-point field goals in a season (79), as well as the record for three-point percentage in a career.

"Kate is the type of player that fits nicely into what we are trying to do this season," stated King. She is as lethal from long-range as any player in this league and that will make her a big compliment to what we are trying to accomplish on the inside with Ruth, Erin and Teresa."

With the addition of Fagan to the roster, the Chill roster now stands at 14. Fagan joins a solid list headed by Team USA Gold Medallist Ruth Riley and WNBA All-Star Becky Hammon. Other players on the roster include 2004 Chill MVP Katie Cronin, Teresa Hinz, Shawna Hawes, Erin Scholz, Carrie Bacon, Nikki Rouillard, Danielle Coleman, Jasai Ferrucho, Nadia Fercha, Samaiyah Council and Tiffany McCain. The Chill will make roster cuts following the team's exhibition games this weekend.

The Chill will open the season with a series of exhibition games against the Chicago Blaze starting tomorrow night. The first game will be played in Becky Hammon's hometown of Rapid City, SD, while the second will be played on Sunday back at the Budweiser Events Center. Game time for Sunday is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. The regular season is scheduled to begin on January 15, when the Lubbock Hawks visits Colorado at 7 p.m.

Season tickets can be purchased for as low as $112 per seat by calling Aaron Moore at Triple Crown Sports at 970-223-6644. Individual game tickets are also on sale, and can be purchased online at www.comcasttix.com, by phone at 877-544-8499 or at the Budweiser Events Center Box Office.

The NWBL is a six-team league that features more than 25 active WNBA players. Other teams in the league include the Birmingham Power (Birmingham, Ala.); Dallas Fury (Dallas, Texas); Chicago Blaze (Naperville, Ill.); San Jose Spiders (San Jose, Calif.) and Lubbock Hawks (Lubbock, Texas).
