Spokane Chiefs News Release
Cody Esposito scored his first career goal and added an assist as the Spokane Chiefs rolled to a 4-1 win over the Chilliwack Bruins on Friday night in the Spokane Arena. The win gives the Chiefs their 22nd win of the season and puts them in a third place tie with the Tri-City Americans, two points behind Seattle.
Tri-City will visit the Spokane Arena on Saturday night on Red Lion River Inn's Buck Night. The first 5,000 fans through the gates will receive a pair of CheerStix.
Spokane scored the first four goals of the game, including three in the second, on their way to the win. David Linsley's drive to the net paid off with a feed in front from Esposito and his third goal of the year. Jared Spurgeon also assisted on the play 13:26 into the first.
The eventual game winner came when Chris Bruton took a Justin Falk feed at the Chilliwack blueline and snapped it home from the right wing at 13:26 of the second. The goal started a three minute flurry that resulted in three goals. Drayson Bowman, standing net front on the power play, tipped in a rebound of a Stephane Lenoski shot at 16:14 and Cody Esposito cleaned up an Ondrej Roman shot at 17:18. Spokane outshot Chilliwack 9-7 in the second.
The Bruins lone goal came on the power play from Cody Smuk at 8:28 of the third.
Kevin Armstrong earned his 14th win of the year with 23 saves. Spokane was 1-6 on the power play and 6-7 on the penalty kill.
The Tri-City-Spokane match-up on Saturday night will be the eighth meeting of the year between the two. Six of the previous seven have been one goal games.
Tickets for all home games are available by calling the Chiefs office at (509) 535-PUCK or TicketsWest at (800) 325-SEAT.
