Chico front office member honored for second straight season

CHICO, CA - Becca Hoffer, recently named as the Chico Outlaws new General Manager, received another title Thursday when she was honored as the Golden Baseball League's 2006 Executive of the Year. The former Director of Operations for the Outlaws succeeds outgoing GM Bob Linscheid, who was named the GBL's top exec a year ago.
"This comes as a complete surprise," Becca said after being notified of the league-wide distinction. "I'm honored to be part of the Chico community and of the great support we receive. I couldn't have won this award without the help of everyone in the Outlaws organization. We're proud of what we've accomplished over the last two years and I think our fans will be very excited for what is planned for the 2007 season."
Golden Baseball League CEO David Kaval was not hesitant to praise Hoffer for her achievements. "This is the highest recognition we have for front office and business personnel across the league," Kaval said Thursday. "Becca has had an outstanding season running the best and most profitable operation in the league and is very deserving of this award. We are pleased she has made a long-term commitment to the GBL and to Chico in accepting the General Manager promotion and are very confident that she will excel at this new level as well."
Linscheid, who has been elevated to the role of Outlaws President, was also complimentary of Hoffer and the team's front office efforts. "This is great recognition of not only the job Becca has done, but for the entire Outlaws front office," he said. "I'm proud that the Outlaws have won this award two years in a row as it clearly reflects the excellence that we have throughout our organization."
A Chico State graduate with a Master's Degree in Communications, Becca began her baseball career in 1999 with the Western Baseball League's Chico Heat, working for four seasons in marketing functions. Prior to her promotion to GM, Hoffer served as the Outlaws Director of Operation since the team's inception two years ago.
